Presbyopia (the gradual loss of the eyes’ ability to focus on nearby objects) affects millions of people around the world. The resulting farsightedness makes tasks requiring close-up focus, like reading and writing, difficult to almost impossible.

Presbyopia may be easily corrected with the use of nonprescription or prescription eyeglasses, but without access to treatment, many are forced to suffer with this age-related condition.

Beginning in September 2020, two thousand pairs of reading glasses were distributed throughout underserved regions in Kyrgyzstan. With something as simple as a pair of glasses, thousands of people have received improved quality of life and ability to perform everyday tasks.
